Access has been the retained communications agency for Tourism NT since early 2017, working across all aspects of domestic communications and PR for this remarkable destination that showcases Indigenous cultures like nowhere else in Australia.
 
Working closely with the in-house communications and marketing teams, we deliver always-on press office and campaign work, a robust media engagement program, and media train both Indigenous and non-Indigenous tourism operators.
 
Our pillars of focus include Indigenous cultures, sustainability (environmental and cultural), arts, accessibility, and wildlife and nature to name a few.
 
We also manage the always-on communications for NT Business Events, whose mission is to bring major corporate and incentive conferences and events to the NT.

Charles Darwin University is a multi-sector university with more than 21,000 students across eight campuses and centres in the Northern Territory and Australia that has undergone some significant changes.
 
Our work over this time has included developing corporate communications audits and strategies; crisis and issues management; media relations and publicity; policy drafting; and creating and implementing major restructure communication campaigns with the merging and de-merging of departments and TAFE.
 
We work closely with the VC office, executive group, academics, researchers, HR, and the marketing, media and communications division.

Access first began working for The Ethics Centre, a unique national not-for-profit organisation that brings ethics into everyday life, for its annual Festival of Dangerous Ideas (FODI).
 
Since then, we have deepened our relationship with the centre and we’re proud to deliver media relations and publicity on a number of major initiatives, from podcasts to re-launching the world’s only free ethical helpline called Ethi-Call, along with overall publicity and, of course, FODI.
 
We have also completed extensive media training for The Ethics Centre spokespeople whose expertise runs from AI in military warfare to the evolution of morality.

Access was the first external PR agency to be hired by a central marketing department to develop consistent and relevant media relations and social media across all nine private hospitals.
 
With little ‘new product’ news, a large number of stakeholders, availability issues for spokespeople, and strict regulations when it comes to communications and PR – and no previous PR program – it was a tough but exciting brief.
 
We adopted a strategy of relevant and impactful storytelling to generate ongoing, consistent coverage across target media, from national TV through to magazines, online new, niche parenting and blogs.
 
For the Mater Maternity, we turned relatively dormant social media into highly engaged channels through a combination of video content, interactive community management and UGC. We also devised and implemented webinar series when virtual advice and education became critical.

Parrtjima is an extraordinary 10-night Aboriginal light festival held in Alice Springs, celebrating Central Australian art and culture with mesmerising light installations, the illumination of the West MacDonnell Ranges, live performances, talks and workshops.
 
Access PR has worked with event organisers Northern Territory Major Events Company since the debut of Parrtjima in 2016, handling all publicity for the annual festival.
 
Now a major drawcard for tourists, our PR campaigns have been acknowledged as key drivers in securing event attendance and creating positive sentiment locally and nationally. We generated 1,416 individual media stories for the 2023 event with 56 million media impressions.

We are immensely proud and honoured to have worked with the Barangaroo Delivery Authority for three years covering the launch of Barangaroo Reserve, a highly significant moment for the Indigenous communities of Sydney and surrounds.
 
Our work was a combination of always-on press office with numerous major projects, campaigns, and events that spanned Aboriginal cultures and education, general entertainment, January 26 ceremonies, New Year’s Eve parties, Aboriginal art projects, contemporary art and culture events, the BLAK Markets, NAIDOC Week and more throughout our tenure.
 
The work also required significant interaction with the NSW Government departments, Destination NSW, the Premier’s Office and a number other high-profile stakeholders.

Mates4Mates is a national charity that actively supports veterans, Defence Force members and their families by providing social connection activities, psychological support, physical rehabilitation and skills for recovery programs.
 
We worked on retainer with Mates4Mates on a range of activities, including communication strategies, stakeholder engagement plans, publicity and media relations around their services.
 
Our key role was to build awareness and understanding of what the organisation offers and ensure that veterans, Defence Force members and their families are able to find the right support when and where they need it.
 
We also provided extensive media training to executives, client liaison officers and specialists over our two-year tenure.

The most significant project was the multi-million dollar upgrade of T1 International, including the launch of the luxury retail precinct, duty free and dining, and the revitalised T2 Domestic casual dining and retail offerings.
 
Throughout this period, we were instrumental in driving coverage of the launch of Australian-first, airport-first and new-to-airport brands across retail, dining, food and beverage.
 
In addition, we created the social media content for all non-corporate Facebook and Instagram pages.

We created the concept, managed and successfully implemented a brand new project called The Learning Edge that focused on building online teaching resources for the most innovative teachers in New South Wales.
 
Our idea was for teachers to submit a video on how they use online teaching to win equipment and a place in a special digital workshop hosted by online teaching sensation Eddie Woo. YouTube came on board (at no cost) and hosted the workshop.
 
We generated high-profile, 100% on-message media coverage as well as trained a emerging generation of digital teachers. Our concept was adopted as an annual event.

Access PR first partnered with Starlight Children’s Foundation in 2012 and as part of that relationship, we have worked across major campaigns, including exclusive fundraising dinners and milestone wish-granting initiatives. 
 
To build awareness for the 9000th wish granted, we developed a creative campaign that the Foundation considered the program’s most successful PR-led campaign to date. It captured the hearts and minds of national and international media, drove awareness around the wish-granting program and spotlighted major program partner, Virgin Australia.
 
The success of this campaign hinged on the story of young Gabriel Cipriano and his wish to follow in the footsteps of his hero, Crocodile Dundee. We undertook a mass media relations campaign, managed to get Paul Hogan himself to film a special video for Gabriel and hosted a media event at Gabriel’s primary school that prompted widespread coverage across major TV, print, radio and online outlets in Australia and around the world.
 
And it made a very sick little boy very happy.

Access PR was the consumer PR agency for the AGNSW, for five years, creating publicity and awareness campaigns and driving coverage and foot traffic for everything from major summer exhibitions to targeted workshops for those dealing with dementia.
 
We worked on the Modern Masters of Art from the Hermitage; Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes; Art Express; Rembrandt & the Dutch Golden Age: Masterpieces from the Rijksmuseum; Adman: Warhol before pop; Robert Mapplethorpe: The Perfect Medium; Nude: Art from the Tate collection; Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera; and Tang: Treasures from the Silk Road capital to name a few.
 
Our work has helped deliver record crowds, the most coverage ever for an AGNSW exhibition at the time and extended shows. Importantly, we achieved a major goal for the gallery by engaging and attracting younger, non-traditional gallery visitors.

Access worked hand-in-hand with The Star as its retained consumer PR agency of record from 2014 to 2019 (including winning two competitive reviews) across lifestyle, dining, retail, events, conferences, community relations, managing an always-on press office, stakeholders and ad-hoc projects.
 
Our objective was to position The Star as a distinct, must-visit Sydney destination and drive visitation to its restaurants, entertainment and retail precincts. In addition, given our long-term relationship, we prioritised fresh, creative thinking to some of the regular activities and milestone events.
 
We launched restaurants, pop-up events, collaborations with Vivid Sydney and ensured The Star was a media favourite.
 
Our initial brief was extended to include community relations and business events.

To build brand advocacy for the Territory among Australian media, we created a multi-sensory experience called A Night in the NT, a ‘mini’ NT complete with tonnes of red sand shipped in from the Red Centre, at a private venue in Sydney.
 
The nation’s top tier travel, lifestyle, arts and culture media experienced contemporary Aboriginal culture, from food to music, fashion to art. A special VR experience was also part of the evening.
 
The event also acted as an opportunity to start, continue and reopen conversations with media to position the NT as an on-trend destination for culturally informed travel in Australia. 
 
Curator of Parrtjima – A Festival in Light, Rhoda Roberts delivered an emotive speech to introduce the upcoming festival and explained the connection between Aboriginal art in the Red Centre.
 
Parrtjima’s crowd favourite, Grounded Space, was recreated and projected onto the red sand floor; live models showcased Indigenous fashion, chef Zack Green gave a presentation about native ingredients and cooked a huge barra over an open fire.
 
The event was an overwhelming success, creating and deepening media’s understanding and awareness of what the NT has to offer when it comes to Indigenous cultures.
