Give sick kids happiness this Starlight Day

This Starlight Day, Friday 3 May, Starlight Children’s Foundation needs your help to raise $1.3 million to give happiness to over 33,000 seriously ill and hospitalised children around Australia.

This Starlight Day, Friday 3 May, Starlight Children’s Foundation needs your help to raise $1.3 million to give happiness to over 33,000 seriously ill and hospitalised children around Australia.

As Starlight’s biggest national fundraising event, Starlight Day aims to raise much-needed funds to support sick kids through its hospital services - the Starlight Express Room and Captain Starlight.
With a Starlight Express Room in every children’s hospital in Australia and over 160 Captain Starlights nationally, every child admitted to hospital, regardless of their illness or injury, can access these vital services with their family.

Being really sick shouldn’t mean missing out on the fun of childhood. What happens in childhood lasts a lifetime and happiness matters especially when it comes to positive health outcomes. While health professionals treat the serious illness, Captain Starlight and the Starlight Express Rooms are there to deliver the fun to sick kids and their families.

This Starlight Day volunteers will be hitting the streets selling merchandise and collecting donations in Sydney’s Wynyard, Town Hall and Martin Place and in Melbourne’s Bourke Street Mall.
Louise Baxter, Starlight CEO, said: “Serious illness and hospitalisation can steal the joy of childhood. That’s where Starlight steps in, to give happiness to sick kids when they need it most. At Starlight we know happiness matters to a sick child’s development and the work we do to support sick kids in every children’s hospital nationally is only made possible through the community who we rely solely on for support.”
Anyone can make a donation today on the Starlight Day website, with all donations made before midnight AEST Friday 3 May generously doubled by Starlight’s corporate partners the Lott, Soul Origin and Repco Authorised Service.

Starlight Day is also proudly supported nationally by Starlight’s corporate partners EB Games, Zing and Twitch through its Game Changers fundraising campaign, and is endorsed by Starlight’s ambassadors including Neil Perry AM, Timomatic, Libby Trickett, Hayden Quinn, Laura Cassai, Mike Hussey, Darryl Brohman, Herb Faust, Dan Rich and Matt Suleau.
