Sky-high opportunities on the menu for food retailers at Sydney Airport
Domestic passengers at Sydney Airport will soon enjoy a brand new food and beverage experience, with expressions of interest for the T2 dining precinct invited from potential retailers for the first time in more than five years.
Set to commence a staged rollout later in the year, the newly designed food and beverage space within T2 will transform the passenger experience and create a greater level of ambience within the terminal. An expansion of seating areas will accommodate a larger number of travellers in a relaxed setting and offer new and exciting food choices.
Taking cues from food trends within the market, the new dining precinct will offer travellers an extensive selection of different food choices across a range of categories, including fast gourmet, street and health.
Sydney Airport general manager retail Glyn Williams said the impetus for the exciting redevelopment was Sydney Airport’s focus on improving the passenger experience.
“With annual passenger growth rates averaging 4.1 per cent over the past five years, T2 is Australia’s busiest airport terminal and opportunities like this don’t come along often. We’re looking for passionate, on-trend and dynamic players to come and make their mark in an incredibly busy and unique environment,” Williams said.
“The T2 dining precinct is just one part of what will form the wider redevelopment plan for Sydney Airport in 2015 and 2016. We have significant works underway at our T1 International terminal, which together with T2 will ensure Sydney Airport has one of the strongest retail product offerings in the world.
“We’re going to give passengers a fantastic dining environment in T2, with an outstanding selection of retailers in a new and improved setting. We’re looking forward to seeing exceptional creativity through this process.”
