Australian Running Festival, Saturday and Sunday, April 12-13, 2014
It’s time to hit the next phase in your training program, with only one week to go until the Australian Running Festival, coming up on April 12-13, 2014.
This year’s race weekend is shaping up to be one of the biggest yet, with more than 6,000 entrants from all over Australia expected to take part.
Organisers are encouraging running enthusiasts to sign up and be the first to experience the new one-lap route, exploring Canberra’s lakeside and surrounds.
Runners of all levels are invited to lace up their sneakers on Saturday, April 12 for the adidas 10km and 5km fun runs. On Sunday, the gun will fire for the longer distances – the Half Marathon (21.1km), The Canberra Times Canberra Marathon (42km) and the Ultra Marathon (50km).
Participants are encouraged to raise much-needed funds for more than 225 charities across Australia, including Gold Charities The Heart Foundation ACT and the Australian Cancer Research Foundation, with the fundraising target set this year at $300,000.
