More than nine years ago the New Horizons spacecraft was sent on a very long journey to Pluto. With the mission a success NASA debuted the historic picture on Instagram an hour before releasing it on its own website. In an attempt to engage new audiences, NASA made the editorial decision to give the world a sneak peak and it’s a win-win situation for NASA and Instagram with people sharing the embedded link rather than just the image file.

First Instagram gave its desktop website a sleek new look, now it has added a search feature. The new tool lets users search for user accounts, hashtags and locations as part of a ‘broader commitment to improving discovery across platforms’.
