Facebook is jazzing up its photo offering with a new feature that allows users to add text, filters, stickers and emojis to photos before uploading – very similar to Snapchat. Its two previous attempts to imitate the app were less than successful so this time they’ve built it directly into the Facebook app itself.
There was a little festival of creativity over in France last week. Needless to say there was a huge social buzz around Cannes Lions with nearly 175,000 tweets from the event handily summed up in this infographic.
The United States Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriages were recognised in every state and before long social media was awash with colour as the news spread . More than 26million people used the Facebook rainbow filter to change their profile images and celebrities and brands were quick to jump on #LoveWins to celebrate.
When Glad Cling Wrap recently updated its packaging there was uproar and consumers took to social media to voice their displeasure. Glad listened and has now launched a major campaign to celebrate the return of the old packaging. Using the hashtag #gladeveryday consumers are being encouraged to share what they are glad for with a few ‘random acts of glad’ thrown in for good measure.
E.L James, the author of Fifty Shades of Grey, took part in a Twitter Q&A earlier this week to promote her new book. To say it didn’t go exactly to plan is a slight understatement as people took over the hashtag #AskELJames with funny, pointed and downright scathing questions.
