Five Things in Five Minutes

Five Things in Five Minutes
Friday 25 January, 2019

This week we bring you an important pupdate, a throwback from the noughties and an app that gained the Pope's tick of approval. All this and more from this week's Five Things in Five Minutes.

1. Paw Patrol reporting for duty
Sydney Opera House has enlisted the help of some canine friends to protect visitors from pesky chip-stealing seagulls. Their presence has already reduced food replacements by 80% and has also protected staff from swooping attacks.

2. Pope approved
Ahead of World Youth Day, the Pope has created his own profile on the app 'Click To Pray.' The Pope-endorsed app creates a network where users can write and share prayers.

3. VR for rainy days
The Weather Channel is using mixed-reality reporting to warn viewers about the dangers of wild weather. The videos showcase hazards caused by everything from ice-storms to wildfires.

4. A-positive science
Scientists have discovered how to replicate human blood vessels. Studying the lab-grown blood will give scientists a better understanding into diseases like diabetes.

5. Flip back to the past
Noughties favourite the Motorola RAZR could soon be making a comeback as a foldable smartphone. But the modern price tag has us thinking some things are better left in the past.
