Facebook is testing out a new ‘downvote’ option on comments. First, it would bring the top voted comments higher in the listing, which could encourage further interaction based on user votes. The platform already does this to a degree based on Likes, but by enabling downvotes, they could help temper more argumentative, opinionated posts, especially within comment sections dominated by specific sub-groups.
