Know more and know why on SBS on Tuesday nights
Award winning SBS programs Insight and Dateline will be broadcast back-to-back when they return for 2012, in a new Tuesday night current affairs line-up.
From the 21st February, Dateline will move from Sunday to Tuesday night following Insight, as part of ‘Know why. Tuesday’ – a night of programming on SBS designed to give Australian audiences an in-depth view of global and local issues, from a range of perspectives.
Insight with Jenny Brockie will return at the new time of 8.30pm Tuesdays. SBS’s flagship forum will continue to challenge expectations – comprehensively tackling the biggest issues and ideas, and uncovering the hidden ones. International current affairs program Dateline will follow at 9.30pm. Hosts Mark Davis and Yalda Hakim, and Dateline’s team of video journalists, will continue to travel the globe and bring to the screen an intimate view of the world’s biggest stories.
SBS Director of news and current affairs, Paul Cutler, said, “Australian audiences know they can rely on SBS for quality coverage and analysis of the news. With our new ‘Know why.
Tuesday’ current affairs line-up, Australians will know more about what’s happening, and why, in one night.
“I encourage Australians to make an appointment with SBS on Tuesday nights to walk away with a better understanding of the big issues and what’s behind them,” Cutler added.
Insight host Jenny Brockie, said, “We’re back with a new look, top quality research and people you won’t see anywhere else. Insight is the home for passionate, informed debate. We’re doing
more online, and talking regularly with our many followers on Twitter and Facebook.”
Dateline hosts Mark Davis and Yalda Hakim will continue to combine time presenting in studio with assignments on the field.
“Dateline brought Australians some of the world’s biggest stories last year - from venturing into Syria and Bahrain in the early days of the Arab Spring, to being on the streets of New York
following Osama bin Laden’s death, and celebrating with thousands as South Sudan became independent,” Hakim said.
“This year the team will continue to be on the ground as news breaks. Video journalism continues to be at the heart of what we do, allowing Dateline to gain unprecedented access to
people and places, and reach compelling stories that others cannot,” Hakim added.
