Shaun Branagan appointed CD BWM Melbourne


After experiencing strong client and staff growth, Belgiovane Williams Mackay Melbourne has appointed high-profile creative heavyweight and one of the industry’s key cross-discipline creative pioneers Shaun Branagan as creative director.

Branagan, who will also take the role of head of innovation for BWM nationally, was instrumental in the agency’s win of Kmart and will move to Melbourne to spearhead creative on this and all other BWM Melbourne clients.

“Shaun has a fantastic ability to think creatively across all media, from traditional TV to breakthrough digital. He is one of the industry’s most experienced and respected creative directors having worked across a huge range of clients in a number of markets,” said BWM executive creative director Rob Belgiovane.

Before joining BWM last year, Branagan was executive creative director at AdPartners and prior to that, chairman and executive creative director at NetX.

He has also worked at Saatchi & Saatchi Hong Kong and was creative director at Young & Rubicam in Sydney.

Branagan will lead a team of highly experienced creatives in Melbourne including creative group head Amy Hollier and senior art director Gus Johnston. Prior to BWM Hollier was with Saatchi & Saatchi in Paris, and was responsible for creating Europe-wide campaigns on the Procter & Gamble megabrand Ariel; she currently works across Simplot and Kmart. Johnston, who has most recently worked at DDB, Grey Melbourne and Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, has experience across brands ranging from Mercedes Benz to M&Ms.

Branagan was previously BWM’s creative director – digital innovation. He has won numerous major international and national awards, including a Cannes Grand Prix, across categories from TV and print to digital and direct.

Aside from new business growth, staff at the Melbourne office has grown over the past few months to 27.
