Fairfax Media nominated for 85 finalists in Newspaper of the Year Awards


Fairfax Media has scored an impressive 85 finalists in this year’s PANPA Newspaper of the Year Awards.

The finalists were announced by PANPA last night following a 53-strong judging panel from around the world.

The Sydney Morning Herald, which was named Newspaper of the Year in 2009, has been named a finalist in this category again in 2010.

The awards recognise excellence in newspapers, websites, photography, marketing and excellence in print and production and received entries from the Asia-Pacific region.

Fairfax Media CEO Brian McCarthy said: "The PANPA Awards are considered to be the most prestigious awards in the region and we are delighted to have achieved 85 finalists in Australia and New Zealand among such intense competition.

“It is also pleasing to see that Fairfax has been recognised across its print and digital, including our new iPad and iPhone apps for Sport & Style and My Career. This demonstrates our integrated approach to distributing content is hitting the mark.”
