Amnesia Razorfish wins at the most prestigious awards in the world - "The Webbys"
Up against the best of the best, Amnesia Razorfish has won the Webby People’s Voice Award in the ‘Interactive Advertising: Mobile & Experience Marketing’ category at the 14th Annual Webby Awards, for its Microsoft Surface ‘Lonely Planet’ application.
The Webby Awards Executive Director David-Michel Davies said of the win: “More than 700,000 votes were cast in the Webby People’s Voice Awards and the people have spoken. This is a tremendous honour indicating the highest level of loyalty and commitment from your online community. In our biggest year yet – with nearly 10,000 entries from all 50 US states and over 60 countries around the world – your work truly represents the best of the web.â€
Amnesia Razorfish Creative Director Andy Pearce said: “We are stoked to be awarded the People’s Voice Award by the web community all over the world – reiterating to us that every day is an opportunity to create something that can change the game completely.â€
This will be the agency’s third year in a row scoring accolades at The Webby Awards. Last year Amnesia Razorfish was a finalist in the Integrated Campaigns category for it “Smirnoff Secret Party 2008†and in 2008 won a Webby Award in the Beauty and Cosmetics category for “The Lynx Effect.â€
For this year’s award, Amnesia Razorfish developed an impressive application in response to Lonely Planet’s call for a program that showed how Microsoft Surface tables could be used in its stores to create engaging experiences that extend outside the retail environment.
An application was developed allowing users to place a Lonely Planet destination guide on the table to see selected content such as images, text and maps.
The content chunks can be saved to a ‘passport’ card placed on the table by the user. The saved content can be retrieved later via a publicly accessible website.
The Webby Awards reflects the remarkable growth of the internet as a tool for business and everyday lives, honoring excellence in over 100 website, interactive advertising, online film and video and mobile web categories. The awards are presented in two categories – The Webby Award and The People’s Voice Award.
“The Webbys†are presented by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), which includes an executive 750-member body of leading web experts, business figures, luminaries, visionaries and creative celebrities, and associate members who are former Webby Award winners and nominees and other internet professionals.
Winners are chosen by the IADAS and web community, and will be formally announced at the 14th Annual Webby Gala in New York City, June 14, 2010.
